iOS 27 released today (15 Sept 2026). The big items New mobile phone

  • Siri AI — rebuilt from the ground up for the AI era. It can draw on personal information stored on your iPhone, has on-screen awareness, and can perform actions in more apps. English only to start, with daily usage limits and paid expanded access coming later. Requires iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max or iPhone 16 or later; iPhone Air and iPhone Duo also support it.
  • Writing — a system-wide Write with Siri feature from the keyboard that can draft, give feedback, change tone, and even write in your style by analysing your emails and messages. Grammar fixes are now suggested automatically alongside spelling.
  • Photos — Spatial Reframing (virtually change camera position), Extend (expand beyond original edges), and improved Clean Up for larger objects. Image Playground can now generate photorealistic images.
  • Visual Intelligence — Siri can tell you the nutritional value of food or calculate what everyone owes from a receipt photo. Bill splitting via Apple Cash is US-only.
  • Speed — quicker animations, faster app launches and AirDrop, plus more reliable iMessage sync with automatic retries and smoother Wi-Fi/cellular handoff. These work on all supported phones, not just AI-capable ones.
  • Liquid Glass — a new slider in Settings lets you adjust it from clear to fully tinted, and app icons are refined.
  • Smaller bits — natural-language event creation in Calendar ("Smart Event Details"), creating Shortcuts by describing them, Safari auto tab grouping, Find My location sharing with custom expiry, expanded parental controls (Ask to Browse, app schedules), and Call Context showing e.g. reservation numbers during business calls.

Building an AI Agent Orchestration Platform across legacy ERPs: Insights from the Brillio architecture Software updates

Connecting autonomous AI agents to legacy enterprise systems (SAP, Salesforce, Oracle) introduces a major operational hurdle: legacy systems are built for deterministic REST/SOAP calls, while LLM agents operate probabilistically.

Without dedicated middleware, autonomous agents quickly trigger API rate limits, get blocked by Web Application Firewalls, or enter recursive loops when schemas drift.

To prevent this in production setups, the orchestration layer must enforce three architectural constraints:

  • Semantic Caching & Token Guardrails: Cache identical context queries and set hard token budgets per sub-task to kill runaway execution loops automatically.
  • Asynchronous Message Queuing: Decouple agent actions from direct API hits. Route tool calls through event-driven brokers (such as Kafka or RabbitMQ) with exponential backoff.
  • Deterministic Schema Validation: Validate tool payloads against strict JSON schemas before the call leaves the agent runtime.
Treating enterprise apps as raw LLM tools without a dedicated abstraction layer is a recipe for system downtime. Looking at enterprise blueprints for an AI agent orchestration platform-such as the Brillio enterprise accelerator architecture-illustrates how isolating operational databases from agent runtimes protects legacy IT from runaway API spikes.

How are your teams handling API throttling when autonomous agents execute multiple sub-tasks across legacy environments?

Why phones are getting more expensive in 2026 DAILY NEWS UPDATES

Why phones are getting more expensive in 2026 — the AI memory war explained

Quick question for the room: has anyone else noticed budget phones quietly disappearing from supplier lists, or the same model costing more than it did six months ago? You're not imagining it. Here's the full story of what's happening — and why it matters for all of us buying, selling, and repairing.

The one-line version: AI data centres are eating the world's memory chip supply, and phones are paying the price.

How we got here

For years, cheap memory made cheap phones possible. That's reversing. The same factories produce both the memory in your phone and the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) that powers AI servers — and AI buyers pay far more per gigabyte, so the big three makers (Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron) have shifted production toward AI. Every wafer given to an HBM stack for an Nvidia GPU is a wafer denied to the memory module in a mid-range phone.

The numbers are wild:
  • DRAM spot prices have jumped nearly 700% over the past year (Bloomberg, July 2026).
  • NAND flash (storage) has nearly doubled in the same window.
  • There's even a bizarre inversion — older DDR4 memory now costs more per gigabit than newer HBM3e, which almost never happens.

What it means for the wallet

The pain isn't spread evenly — budget phones are getting hammered hardest. Memory makes up 25–30% of the entire bill of materials on a sub-RM900 phone, so there's almost no margin left to absorb a 70% cost jump on that one component. That's why the cheapest tier is thinning out.

On the forecast side, Gartner expects memory prices to climb roughly 130% by the end of 2026, pushing PC prices up around 17% and smartphone prices up around 13% versus 2025.

And this isn't a quick blip. SK Hynix's CEO warned in July that the crunch will probably last beyond 2030, with shortages running through 2027 and beyond.

🔧 What this means for us in Penang

  • Old stock is gold. If you're sitting on inventory bought at last year's prices, it's quietly appreciating. Think twice before clearing it cheap.
  • Storage/RAM upgrades cost more. SSDs and RAM for laptop/PC jobs are climbing too — HP says memory now makes up about 35% of total laptop material cost, up from 15–18% just a quarter earlier. Factor that into your quotes.
  • Procurement timing matters. For the China orders, memory-heavy items are the ones to watch. Locking in before the next Q3 hike could save real money.
  • Customers need the explanation. When someone asks why this year's model costs more, now you can actually explain it instead of just eating the complaint.

Over to you

  • Are your suppliers already showing higher RAM / SSD / storage prices, or is Penang still on old pricing?
  • Anyone stockpiling memory modules ahead of the next hike?
  • Are you seeing customers downgrade specs (less storage) to hit a budget?
