THE E-SIM AGE IS HERE, AIRTEL AND JIO ARE IN THE GAME, HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
What is an e-SIM card? How does e-SIM work?
In the world of technology, e-SIM technology has been around for a while. But many are unaware of its potential or existence. This is primarily due to the fact that not all cellphones advertise this connectivity feature. It costs money to add SIM support to the phone motherboard. But every Apple iPhone comes with this choice. Motorola and Samsung also provide it. However, this is only accessible on high-end devices. e-SIM is compatible with Google's Pixel smartphones as well.
What is e-SIM?
The country's telecom industry is undergoing a dramatic transition thanks to e-SIM technology. While phones are evolving to become smarter, SIM cards will also evolve. Numerous SIM card sizes, including Micro SIM, Mini SIM, Nano SIM, and others, are being phased out. The association for the mobile telecom industry, known as GSMA, is attempting to establish a new standard for electronic SIMs, or e-SIMs, which would do away with the idea of SIM cards.
One SIM card per phone will effectively replace one new SIM card each connection with the launch of e-SIM. The phone's inbuilt e-SIM cannot be taken out. It is designed to be utilized by inputting the DADE-SIM of that connection when establishing a new connection. To assist in bringing e-SIM to life, businesses including Apple, Samsung, Motorola, and Google have been in discussions with the GSM Association.
An embedded-SIM is what the e-SIM is called. The SIM technology will be built into the phone's motherboard. Both smartwatches and drones enable this feature. As a result, the handset no longer requires a second SIM card slot.
Users can activate a telecom network using an integrated or digital SIM without utilizing a traditional Nano-SIM. The only telecom providers in India that support SIM cards in smartphones are Bharti Airtel, Jio, and V. All Android and iOS smartphones can use this system.
e-SIM is not priced individually by telecom firms. Under the same SIM card number, you can access all of your current plans. e-SIM service is supported by Airtel and Jio in both prepaid and postpaid plans. V postpaid plans are the only ones that have the e-SIM option.
However, there is no assurance that e-SIM would offer superior connectivity. However, you can skip visiting shops to purchase a new SIM card. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer your SIM card to a new phone and utilize it when you change phones. Only after performing all the previous steps on the new phone can you utilize the SIM.
