Learning how to stay cyber-safe is absolutely essential in this day and age. Read this guide to make sure your device is protected against threats such as botnets, malware, and other malicious software.
Staying cyber safe is more important than ever, as threats like botnets and malware have become increasingly prevalent. In this post, you'll learn what steps to take to secure your device from these malicious programs and how to stay safe online.

Install Antivirus Software and Keep It Updated.
Installing quality antivirus and anti-malware software on all of your devices can help prevent infection from a wide range of malicious programs. Once installed, be sure to keep your antivirus and anti-malware software up to date, as cybercriminals are continuously finding new ways of penetrating vulnerable systems.
Use Strong Passwords on All Accounts.
Having a strong, unique password for each of your accounts is one of the best ways to protect yourself against malicious software. Combining upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters can create a secure password that is difficult to crack. Be sure to avoid using any personal information in your passwords as these can be easily guessed or obtained through social engineering techniques.
Only Connect to Secured Wi-Fi Networks.
Using a secured Wi-Fi network is an important component of staying cyber-safe. When using public Wi-Fi networks, consider using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for added security. This will help prevent personal information from being intercepted by malicious as it is sent over the network. Additionally, be sure to avoid connecting to open or unsecured networks and keep in mind that any data transmitted over these networks can easily be intercepted and exploited by hackers.
Update Your Software Regularly.
Keeping your software up-to-date is an essential step in staying cyber-safe. One of the most common ways hackers gain access to your device is through exploiting outdated system components, applications and even web browsers. Be sure to enable automatic software updates or set reminders for yourself to regularly check for updates and patches on all your devices. Additionally, avoid downloading applications from unknown or unverified sources as this can increase the risk of malicious software being installed onto your device.
Monitor the Usage of Permissions & Precautionary Measures to Access Sensitive Information Safely & Securely.
Many applications, programs and websites require certain permissions to be granted in order to gain access to your device's camera, microphone, location, or contacts. It is important to regularly audit these permission choices as malicious attackers can take advantage of any weaknesses within the permission settings. To make sure that no suspicious activity is occurring on your devices, be sure to monitor the usage of any apps or programs that require permissions. Additionally, avoid accessing sensitive data such as passwords and financial information over unreliable public networks for added security.

I also prefer to keep my system updated. It's very common nowadays that your device gets hacked with just a single link. I am using a tough security software(T9 Antivirus) for protection against malware and viruses. Also, Keeping your drivers up-to-date and doing a proper cleanup of your system is now my biggest priority.
Local Wi-Fi connections are always harmful so I prefer not to use them unless it's very important and advise others the same.
